Description

Highlights: • A prospective comparison of PET/MRI or PET/CT in esophageal cancer was conducted. • Inter-rater agreement between PET/MRI and PET/CT was substantial in staging. • There were discrepancies between the two modalities regarding T-stage. • PET/MRI is a safe and promising modality for clinical staging in esophageal cancer. -- Abstract: To evaluate integrated 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (18F-FDG) positron-emission tomography (PET)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in comparison with the standard technique, integrated 18F-FDG-PET/computed tomography (CT), in preoperative staging of oesophageal or gastroesophageal junctional cancer.
