Living with the consequences of criticality incident

Description

The response of population in Tokai-Mura and Japan on the Tokai-Mura reprocessing plant accident of 30 September, 1999 at the nuclear fuel production plant is considered. Results of the public opinion poll on the question under consideration, response of mass media are presented. On evidence of the questioning high quota of people (58 %) advocates further development of the nuclear energetics in spite of fears induced by the accident. However positive attitude to the nuclear energetics reduces from 60 % to 58 %, negative attitude increases from 31 % to 37 %. The accident has an important bearing on regional residents because of its direct effect

Abstract (Russian)

Рассмотрена реакция населения Токаи-Мура и Японии на аварию на перерабатывающем заводе в Токаи-Мура 30 сентября 1999 г. на установке по изготовлению ядерного топлива. Представлены результаты опроса общественного мнения о данном вопросе, реакция средств массовой информации. По данным опроса высокая доля людей (58 %) поддерживает дальнейшее развитие ядерной энергетики, несмотря на опасения, вызванные аварией. Однако позитивное отношение к ядерной энергетике снизилось с 60 % до 58 %, отрицательное увеличилось с 31 % до 37 %. Авария оказала большое влияние на местных жителей из-за ее прямого воздействия
