Resistance-reaction soldering of titanium alloy VT6S

Creators

Description

The brazing ability of the VT6S alloy is investigated. The optimum composition has been selected of the interlayer by the maximum thickness of the foil of the active metal and the intensity of evening out of the structural and chemical inhomogeneity of the joint metal. Empirical dependences for calculating the maximum permissible thickness of the interlayer of the active metal in contact-reactive brazing are proposed. The optimum active metals for contact-reactive brazing of the VT6S alloy are palladium and titanium nickelide. To obtain brazed joints of high strength and plasticity, the brazing must be followed by isothermal annealing. The optimum annealing temperature for the VT6S alloy is within the range of 920-970 deg C
