Timer for synchrophasotron injector

Description

A timer for the new LU-20 injector is described. The equipment is to be used in the shaping of short-delayed pulses in the start-up of the high-power subsystems of the synchrophasotron. The equipment consists of three basic units: simulators of the linear retardation assembly, the control panel, and operation in two regines (sic). In the first regime the timer ensures synchronization of the basic pulse systems of the linear accelerator; in the second regime it is possible to ensure synchronization of either the whole system simultaneously or, by selection of the operator, of one or several systems. A multivibrator on transistors with additional symmetry is used as the master pulse generator in the simulator unit. The retarding pulse amplitude is 1 kV and there are 8 channels. The range of the variable delay is 10 to 1000μsec. Linearity is as good as 1 %. The unit is made according to ''Vishne'' specifications. For two years the timer has ensured steady, reliable operation of the accelerator and has been satisfactory in use
