Extraction of some metal nitrates and nitric acid
Creators
Description
It was found that hydration of a substance under partition upon extraction of nitrates of thorium, cobalt and other metals by alcohols is a main cause of deviation of the organic phase from ideality. The solvation of the salt must be taken into account only when one describes the partition of thorium nitrate. Thermodynamic partition constants correlate with solubilities of water in alcohols expressed in molar fractions, as well as with cation radii of the salts. The growth of partition constants is accompanied by a decrease in hydration degrees of salts in the organic phase
