Instrumental activation analysis with 12C3+ and 14N3+ ion beams of U-120 M cyclotron

Description

Results of investigations in the field of activation analysis with heavy ions (AAHI), which were started for the first time in the Soviet Union in 1982, using the U-120 M cyclotron of Tomsk polytechnical institute, are presented. Two main dorections of investigations on AAHI are singled out: instrumental methods of the lightest element (from H to 0) determination in materials of new equipment and analysis methods based on strong recoil of radioactive nuclei. It is ascertained that owing to nuclei recoil effect activation by 6.7Li and 9Be ions is the most applicable are for the determination of gas impurities (C, N, O) with the minimum detection limit, and activation by 12C and 14N ions - for the determination of 2H, Li, Be and B, which is also used for the introduction of 15O, 13N, 11C, 18F and 24Na radionuclides with 103-106 Bq activity to the sample volume. 4 refs.; 1 fig.; 2 tabs
