A case of Wilson's disease with high density lesion in hepatic computerized tomography scan and abnormal secretion of pituitary hormones

Description

A 18-year-old female patient with Wilson's disease is presented in whom nodular lesions appeared as high density areas on hepatic computerized tomography (CT) and in whom diencephalohypophysial function was abnormal. Hepatic CT undertaken after the beginning of treatment with D-penicillamine (D-P) revealed that high density areas had changed to low density ones. Furthermore, LH-RH loading test disclosed normal reaction of plasma LH and FSH, and plasma GH-TRH reaction also returned to normal. It is therefore considered that hepatic CT and endocrinological test are useful in observing the course of treatment with D-P in cases of Wilson's disease. (Namekawa, K.)
