Solid carburization of the 2Kh13 steel
- 1. Belorusskij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Minsk
Description
The case-hardening of 2Kh13 steel in a carburizer composed of charcoal and sodium acetate has been studied. A layer-by-layer analysis has revealed the distribution of carbon and chromium throughout the depth of the layer. An x=ray analysis of part of the diffusion layer has shown therein the presence of cementite which is alloyed with chromium and has a formula of (FeCr)3C. An industrial technique was developed for case-hardening tools and production equipment from grade 2Kh13 steel in the solid case-hardening carburizer
