Removal of oxygen and carbon from tungsten during electron crucibleless zone melting

Description

The method of activation by fast ions of helium-3 was employed for determination of the oxygen and carbon content in tungsten produced by electronic pot-free zone melting. It was established that the process of evacuation of oxygen and carbon from tungsten depends on the concentration of these gases in the metal. The final content of oxygen (10-5 to 10-7 wt%) and carbon (10-4 to 10-6 wt%) is determined by the melting conditions
