High spin levels in 79Kr
- 1. Andhra Univ., Waltair (India). Lab. for Nuclear Research
Description
In-beam spectroscopy studies in 79Kr produced via 70Zn (12C,3n)79Kr reaction at a projectile energy of 38.4 MeV from the tandem Van-de-Graaff generator of Oak Ridge National Laboratories establish two new levels at 1984.5 and 3128.5 keV. An analysis of the angular distribution of γ-rays shows that the possible spin-parity characteristics of these levels are (15/2+) and (19/2+). The cascading transitions 1144.9 keV, 1026.9 keV, 877.7 keV indicate that they are of stretched E2 character and the respective levels are the possible member of the yrast band. The results are discussed. (auth.)
