Some relativistic features of stellar structures
Description
An aspect of general relativistic stellar structures is investigated using the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation of hydrostatic equilibrium which satisfies a gamma-law equation of state. Approximate analytical solutions to the equations of hydrostatic equilibrium, suitable for use in very short computer programs or on small calculators, are obtained. The present approach may find applications in the study of accretion phenomena, black hole tidal models of QSOs, and type II supernova energetics. 39 references
