Generalized duality: a relationship between three-body forward scattering and two-body scattering

Creators

Description

The concept of duality is generalized to three-body elastic scattering. The intermediate region where both a Regge and a resonance description exist is discussed, and through a comparison of the two processes information about elastic and quasielastic scattering is obtained. The dual-resonance model is considered as an example of this generalized duality. The theoretical results are applied to pp→pp, pp→pN′(1520), pp→pN′(1670), and pp→pΔ(1236), which are all shown to have a universal behavior.
