Risk assessment 102: when one site is really two (or more)
Description
This case study illustrates the concept that assessment of risks at a site can be so dependent on site-specific characteristics that the site may need to be subdivided into several sections and separate risk assessments undertaken. This can be a cautionary tale for risk assessors, site assessor and project managers, when scoping a risk assessment. An example site is presented show the significance of on-site and off-site soil profile(s) and contaminants characteristics and their differences across the site and the impact on potential vapour intrusion risk.
