A study of high-uranium technogenous zircon (Zr, U)SiO4 from Chernobyl ''Lavas'' in connection with the problem of creating a crystalline matrix for high-level waste disposal
Description
At present ZrSiO4 is considered as a potential component for a strong crystalline matrix retaining high-level long-lived radionuclides in its structure. For natural zircons it is characteristic the presence of most diverse impurities isomorphously substituting zirconium: hafnium, thorium, uranium, rare earths, calcium, aluminium, strontium, yttrium, niobium, titanium, manganese, iron, etc. The present paper studies the crystals structure of high-uranium technogenous zircon from Chernobyl lava. 7 refs., 5 figs., 2 tabs
