RUTHERFORD APPLETON: ISIS nice

Description

The ISIS pulsed spallation neutron source continues to make good progress. In March the machine reached its highest intensity when 5 x 1012 protons per pulse at 550 MeV and 50 pulses per second were delivered to the neutron production target. This 40 microamperes of mean proton current is 20% of the design performance and confirms once again the potential of ISIS as a powerful accelerator- based pulsed neutron source
