The Hanford Environmental Data System
Description
The Hanford Environmental Data System (HEDS) is a comprehensive online, interactive data base used by the Pacific Northwest Laboratory's Hanford Environmental Surveillance Program. The Environmental Surveillance Program provides for the monitoring and evaluation of environmental radiological parameters in the Hanford environs for the purpose of assessing environmental impacts of site operations. Through software developed to utilize the data base, the system generates pre-printed labels from an internally stored sample collection schedule and tracks the collection and analysis of samples - providing notification in the event a sample is not collected or analyzed according to schedule. The system screens all incoming data using sample-specific criteria and generates a report for any data not meeting all criteria. Comments may be stored with any environmental measurement result entry
