Gauge dependence of the effective potential for bilocal composite operators in abelian gauge theories
Description
The authors generalize the Nielsen-Fukuda-Kugo identity to the case of the effective potential for bilocal composite fields in quantum electro-dynamics and show that the ground-state energy in the presence of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking is indeed gauge independent. The derived identity is then employed to explore the gauge properties of various quantities, i.e., the fermion propagator and the dynamical mass of massless QED in the presence of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking
