SCDAP: a computer code for analyzing light water reactor severe core damage
Description
This paper contains discussions of the current status of SCDAP including a description of the new models available in SCDAP/MOD0/V2, and sample calculations based on the second of the Severe Fuel Damage Tests to be conducted in the Power Burst Facility. SCDAP/MOD0 has had significant success in accurately describing the early phases of damage progression when compared to early experiments. The sample calculations presented here demonstrate how separate models that have been developed from separate effects experiments can combine to give results that are somewhat surprising. The importance of ballooning was recognized only after comparisons with calculations with the input modified resulting in one of the representative rods not ballooning
