Hydrosphere radioactivity monitoring in closest vicinity of Dukovany nuclear power plant
Description
Waste waters from the Dukovany power plant are discharged via an artificial canal into the Mohelska valley reservoir to the amount of approximately 500 l/sec. Here there is great dilution and the diluted water then flows into the Jihlava river. The tritium level in surface waters has increased approximately 50-fold as compared with the level existing before the power plant was put into operation. In surface and ground waters and in samples of aquatic organisms monitoring continues of the tritium content and of other short- and long-lived radionuclides. The entire system of discharging waste waters of all types is continuously being monitored. The table shows the contents of certain radionuclides in waters and aquatic organisms in the years 1978 - 1987. (M.D.). 2 tabs
