Description

High power pulsed klystrons and pulsed magnetrons find applications in electron accelerator and RADAR applications. The paper very briefly discusses the line type pulse modulator topology used for powering these devices, the pulse current measurement, filament heating schemes and various fast and slow protection technique. The design of current transformer for pulse measurement, shunt diode assembly, tail clipper assembly will be discussed in detail. The sensitivities of the high power pulsed klystron and magnetrons to arcing, vacuum degradation and reflection from the load, back-swing voltage will also be discussed. (author)
