Direct conversion of nuclear to electric energy
Description
The principle is described of magnetohydrodynamic and thermionic conversion of nuclear energy to electric energy. HTGR type reactors, gas cooled FBR type reactors and LMFBR's already under operation can be used as heat sources for magnetohydrodynamic energy conversion. Currently, thermionic energy conversion is under study. (J.B.)
