Coupled-channel results for atomic excitations in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions

Description

Electron and positron emission spectra produced in heavy-ion collisions with beam energies in the range ELab=8-100 MeV/u are calculated up to kinetic lepton energies of 50 MeV. Earlier predictions concerning the observability of nuclear stopping times in the range τ=1-10 fm/c by means of the slope of δ-electron spectra are confirmed. However, the effect of time-delay is somewhat less pronounced than predicted in first-order perturbation theory. (orig.)
