Study on the α-particle structure of excited states of the 20Ne nucleus

Description
The angular dα-correlation in the 16O(6Li, d)20Ne(α)16O process was measured at a 6Li ion energy of 28 MeV. It is shown that there exist in the 20Ne nucleus states having very pronounced α-cluster properties: these are populated as a result of direct α-particle transfer; the main mode of decay from these states is α-decay to the ground state of 16O; and their reduced α-particle widths are close to the Wigner threshold. Some of these states are identical with previously known 20Ne levels appearing in the rotational bands of the nucleus. The characteristics of other states are determined for the first time. The data obtained make it possible to refine the classification of rotational bands in 20Ne. (author)
