Reactor container
Description
Pedestals for supporting molten matters fallen from a pressure vessel upon accidents are made of materials having melting point higher than 3000degK. As a means for cooling the reactor container atmosphere, an exclusive pump with water injection amount of about 50 to 100 m2/h is used without installing usual additional container spray systems. This pump is independent of an ordinary system and accompanies a driving diesel engine. Further, a water injection source is disposed independently, to enable water supply from other water source while considering the case that the water source should dryup. With such a constitution, if high temperature molten matters should fall on the high melting point materials, reactions between molten matters and concretes are not caused and incondensible gases as reaction products are not dissipated. The water injection system cools the atmosphere in the container, temperature of which is elevated due to the fall of the molten matters. (I.S.)
