Description
With the growing number of nuclear facilities reaching the decommissioning stage, the Working Party on Decommissioning and Dismantling (WPDD) within the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD/NEA) formed the Task Group on Preparing for Decommissioning during Operation and after Final Shutdown (TGPFD). This paper gives an overview of the work carried out by TGPFD between 2015 and 2017 and covers strategic approaches, issues and risks and observations of good practice rather than providing detailed descriptions of methods or technologies. Some issues are detailed like: setting strategies for decommissioning, technical preparatory activities, regulatory aspects, stakeholder management, and organizational transition. The findings of TGPFD were summarized in a report, which was published in early 2018. (authors)
