X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the K-edge and proximity effects in Fe/Cu multilayers

Description
On the basis of a first-principles electronic structure calculation, site-dependence of spin and orbital magnetic moments and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the K-edge are investigated for Fe/Cu multilayers. Proximity effects due to ferromagnetic Fe layers on Cu layers are illustrated from the site-dependence, and spectra of the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism of Cu atoms are shown to resemble those of Fe atoms
