Polymorphism of oxytungstates TR2WO6. Structure of tetragonal Nd1.2Lu0.8WO6

Structure of Nd1.2Lu0.8WO6 tetragonal crystal (sp.gr. P4-bar21m, Z=2, a=5.276(1), c=8.658(1) A isostructural to oxytungstates TR2WO6 is determined. WO6 separated octahedrons occupy 44-type lattice points placed on two levels. Two crystallographically non-equivalent types of rare-earth cations are placed in TR1O8 and TR2O8 oxygen octoverteces. TR1 position is statically occupied by Lu and Nd atoms in 4:1 ratio, while TR2 position is completely occupied by Nd atoms. Comparison analysis of structures of 4-, 5- and -6 type oxytungstates is presented. Rhombic elementary cell with parameters: a=7.516, b=10.347, c=12.793 A, is determined for LaWO6-1 prepared by solid-phase synthesis
