Radiosensitivity of gamma-irradiated synchronous and asynchronous cultures of myxomycete Physarium polycephalum

Description
A study was made of the effect of γ-radiation on synchronous and asynchronous plasmodia of the true slime mould Physarum polycephalum. When macroplasmodia were irradiated during mitosis or as they entered the S stage, radiosensitivity was maximal. At all stages of the mitotic cycle, the synchronous culture of macroplasmodia was more resistant to γ-radiation than the asynchronous one
