Analytical studies and programming of light water properties

Description

Analytical studies are made and thermodynamic transformations involving pressure, temperature, volume, enthalpy and entropy are used so that with a knowledge of any two of these state properties, the rest of the properties can be readily calculated. Computer programs are written to carry out the computations. The work is carried out in a superheated steam region of practical interest, i.e. for thermodynamic systems of nuclear reactors, with pressure varying from 100 psi to 1000 psi and degree of superheat varying from 0 to 50 deg F. The accuracy of the results obtained varies not only with the state property calculated but also with the pressure level and the degree of superheat. In general, the errors in the computed properties are less than 2 to 3% as compared with properties tabulated in the steam tables
