Search for narrow bound Δ states in nuclei

Description
We have searched for bound narrow Δ states by means of the reaction π + 12C -> 11Besub(Δ) + p. This search was partially motivated by the recent corroboration of narrow Σ hypernuclear states. The essential difference to previous Δ productions in nuclei is a ''recoilless kinematic'', i.e., the p carries away the momentum of the π and the Δ is produced with low momentum transfer. The feasibility of the experiment has been shown in two runs at the SUSI spectrometer at SIN. (orig./HSI)
