Description
A method of expanding a volume integral in terms of the moments gives a simple formula for the linear polarization sensitivity which is easy to evaluate. The formula has been applied to a new type of Compton polarimeter with two planar detectors, and has proved to be as accurate as a conventional numerical integration. Furthermore the method gives a good insight into optimum configurations of the detectors for the measurement of the linear polarization. (orig.)
