Approaches to inversion of fast electron scattering

Description

An approximate scheme to invert measured exit surface wavefunction data to obtain the Coulomb potential of a crystal specimen has been proposed which is based on the reversal of t multi-slice procedure. Using simulation methods this iterative process has been demonstrated to work satisfactorily up to some maximum thickness at which it fails because the approximation on which it is based no longer applies. An extension of this scheme to obtain the potential at defects crystals has also been explored to a limited extent. (authors)
