Description
This study on the extraction behaviour of plutonium in 30% TBP in n-dodecane from a solution of UC in HNO3 was undertaken to develop a chemical head end step for the reprocessing of carbide fuel. The values of distribution ratio of plutonium (DPu) obtained were compared with that obtained with a solution of UO2(NO3)2 containing similar concentrations of uranium and plutonium. DPu after partitioning was also determined. The values obtained in both the cases were comparable. (author). 8 refs
