Investigation of the strong principle of equivalence through the use of freely falling goecentric coordinates

Description

The strong equivalence principle (as stated in Will (1981)) is investigated by developing a transformation from a system of coordinates at rest relative to the sun to a freely falling inertial coordinate system at rest relative to the earth. The transformation is used to transform the metric, the n-body equation of motion, and the light time equation to the new coordinates. As any terms that contain solar quantities in the transformed equations represent violations of the strong equivalence principle, proposals for experiments to measure these terms are discussed. The parameterized post-Newtonian formalism is employed throughout to facilitate the discussion and limits on some of the associated parameters are derived based on the possible results of the proposed experiments
