Aseismic design for a large pool-type fast reactor
Description
The fundamental principles of an aseismic design are discussed and applied to the structural concept of the CFRX nuclear buildings and foundation. The resulting design and its behaviour expected during a seismic event are compared to the previous design of LMFBR. The improvement in the seismic response is attributed to the following factors: small and compact secondary containment building, the common foundation raft, and a location of the reactor roof close to the base raft. 4 refs
