Surface properties of lithium oxides studied by high temperature work function measurement
- 1. Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo, Tokyo (Japan)
Description
The experiment on vapor pressures and work function changes of Li4SiO4, Li2ZrO3 and Li2TiO3 at elevated temperatures were closely related to each other, indicating a relevance between macroscopic and microscopic behaviors of hydrogen at the surface of ceramic breeders. The finding predicts the work function of Li2O and LiAlO2, on the basis of vapor pressure, which turned out be correct at least in that no formation of oxygen-deficient layer was implied from these measurements.
