Description

Active nuclei of Seyfert galaxies are investigated. For 16 active nuclei of galaxies UBV-magnitudes, red shifts, equivalent widths, Hsub(β) luminosities, and Doppler widths of hydrogen lines are presented. The gas parameters (gas mass and density, kinetic energy, space and time scale) in the region of formation of broad emission lines are estimated. The low-velocity (200-300 km/s) motions of gas in the forbidden-line zone seem to be equilibrated by the gravitational potential of the galaxy. It is suggested, that the high-velocity gas motions are equilibrated by the gravitational potential of the active nucleus. The masses of central bodies are found to be approximately 108-109 solar masses. Bolometric luminosities of nuclei do not exceed the Eddington limit corresponding to their masses
