Inclusive distributions and cross sections for hadroproduction of heavy-flavored particles in the quark-gluon string model
Description
The characteristics of the particles containing heavy quarks and produced in collisions of high-energy hadrons are discussed from the point of view of the quark-gluon string model. The inclusive x distributions of D mesons in pp interactions of arbitrarily high energy are obtained. The Λc-baryon spectra are also considered. The discrepancies between the calculations and recent experimental results are examined. The model gives a good description of the energy dependence of the cross sections of charmed-particle production. The spectra of hadrons containing a b quark are also obtained. The model predicts a rapidly increasing b bar b-pair production cross section at high energies. A comparison with QCD perturbative calculations is made. 17 refs., 8 figs
