Development of an automation prototype for the irradiation system with a cesium source at the Metrology Laboratory of the CRCN/CNEN-NE

Description
This work approaches the automation of the Cesium Laboratory of the Division of Metrology (DIMET) of the Regional Center of Nuclear Sciences (CRCN), with intention to eliminate the gross errors associated to operator, minimizing the uncertainty on dose measurement and guaranteeing repeatability to the irradiation process. It is used parallel door, consisting on positioning the calibration platform, supported by a step engine to allow a longitudinal motion. The automation system controls the exposition of the source and the irradiation time. The installation of the security system was also implemented to protect the worker during the irradiation process. (author)
