Description
By using a d.c. microwave power of 2 kW, it is possible to produce more than 2A equivalent of deuterium atoms in a range of energy 1-3 keV. The equivalent current density is 0.1 A/cm2. The pulse duration is greater than 1 s. In the future, this microwave positive ion source with a cesium vapor charge exchange cell (thickness 1-5 1015 at/cm2) to produce 0.4 A of D- with a current density of 15 mA/cm2. An extrapolation of this technic allows to define a neutral injector unity of 1 MW (200
