Rotational temperature in a high-pressure pulsed CO2 laser

  • 1. Los Alamos Scientific Lab., NM

Description

Small-signal gain at line center for a group of lines has been utilized to deduce the time dependence of rotational temperature in pulsed high-pressure CO2 laser systems. Attempts to extract additional information on excited-state population densities are compromised by uncertainties in the vibration-rotation interaction. Anomalies in the small-signal gain for the P20, P28, and R14 lines of the 10.4-μ band are observed
