A study on the relationship between peripheral red blood cells immune function status and serum NPY level in patients with acute brain injury
Description
Objective: To explore the relationship between changes of peripheral red blood cells immune-function status and serum NPY level in patients with acute brain injury. Methods: RBC immune-function status was studied with immune methods and serum NPY level was measured with RIA in 31 patients with acute brain injury and 35 normal controls. Results: RBC-C3bRR percentage was significantly lower in patients with acute brain injury than that in controls (P < 0.01), while serum NPY level was obvious negatively correlated to serum NPY (r = -0.3924, P < 0.01). RBC-ICRRR percentage was prominently higher than that of controls (P < 0.01), and RBC-ICRRR was positively correlated to serum NPY levels (r = 0.5084, P < 0.01). Conclusion: There existed some disturbances of RBC immune-regulation with suppressed immune function and higher NPY level in patients with acute brain injury. (author)
