Ionising radiation exposure measurements at commercial jet aircraft altitudes

Creators

  • 1. Lawrence Livermore National Lab., CA (United States)

Description

There has been interaction between atmospheric cosmic ray studies and particle accelerator radiological physics for a number of years. Detectors used at particle accelerator laboratories may be used to study the radiation equipment in aircraft cabins but dose equivalent estimations made with different dosimetry systems may differ significantly. However methods are now available to calculate radiation levels in good agreement with measured data. (author)
