Quatrefoil Tube Support Plate Blockage Examination Magnetic Probe

  • 1. Westinghouse Electric Germany, Mannheim (Germany)

Description

Preventive and Hard Steam Generator Chemical Cleaning are effective answers to this issue. Complementary, Magnetic Probe Examination is a way to quantify the cleaning efficiency by quantization of the deposit/blockage ratio before and after the cleaning process. The physical principle used in the magnetic probe is the attraction/repulsion force generated by the magnetic environment changes and applied to a permanent magnet. The probe is composed of a permanent magnet, a strength sensor and a signal amplifier. The acquired data are analyzed using a multilinear regression method apply on identified specific values. These values are considered, after laboratory test and studies, as essential representative parameters of the phenomena. By means of this technology, tube deposit and quatrefoil tube support plate blockage variations can be quantified and the efficiency of the cleaning process can be verified
