On the discovery of doubly-magic nickel-48
Creators
Description
At the LISE3 separator of GANIL, an experiment has been performed to search for the doubly-magic nucleus 48Ni. For this purpose, a 58Ni primary beam with a typical intensity of 1012 particles per second, accelerated by the GANIL cyclotrons to an energy of 74 MeV/nucleon, impinged on a natural Nickel target. In the experimental setup at the exit of the LISE3 separator, two events of 48Ni were unambiguously identified. (author)
