Recent results of shell-model calculations (regularities in spectra)
Description
Plots of excitation energies Esub(x) versus the spin J calculated with the shell model for a large range of J-values suggest certain mass-independent regularities. The Esub(x)(J) behaviour in the yrast region can be understood from simple shell-model arguments in the framework of a statistical approach. The extensive experimental data on J = 0-10 states obtained recently for 168Er seem to support the expected regularities. (author)
