A model for neutrino decays

  • 1. Maryland Univ., College Park (USA). Dept. of Physics and Astronomy

Description

A simple extension of the left-right symmetric model is shown to generate a real Goldstone boson, whose properties are similar to the majoron. Its coupling to matter is such that astrophysical requirements are satisfied with a right-handed Wsub(R)-boson scale higher than 50 TeV and without any need for a heavier scale. This model provides interesting decay properties for heavier neutrinos (< or approx.1 keV), making them cosmologically acceptable and could also be relevant in understanding the large and small scale dark matter problem of the universe.
