Fractography determination method of grain size in low-carbon and low-alloy steels

Description

Fractography determination method of grain size in low-carbon and low-alloy steels with complex and mixed structure is described. The method is based on the existence of correlation experimentally detected between facet sizes of transcrystalline chip in britlle fracture zones and a grain structure detected by metallography. Applicability of the method to steels of different composition and heat treatment is described
