Dynamic and static loading tests using 1/30 scale model of PCCV

  • 1. Japan Atomic Power Co., Tokyo

Description

Prestressed concrete containment vessels (PCCV) are important structures, for which pressure withstanding and leak preventing properties are required for preventing the diffusion of radioactive substances at the time of LOCA, and also the function of shielding radiation and high degree of safety are demanded. As the main design load, the pressure and temperature at the time of LOCA and earthquake load are considered. The behavior of PCCVs under these loads has been studied experimentally and by the test of actual PCCVs, and clarified. However, the PCCV for Tsuruga No.2 plant is the first case in Japan, and the construction is to be carried out by introducing Bechtel's technology. It was decided to experimentally confirm the safety margin in relation to the design earthquake load of the PCCV using the scale models simulating the actual PCCV. This experiment is composed of the static horizontal loading test of a 1/8 scale large detailed model and the static horizontal loading test and the vibration test of 1/30 scale models. In this report, the tests on 1/30 scale models are described. The outline of the experimental research, FEM nonlinear analysis method and dynamic nonlinear analysis method and the experimental results are explained. (Kako, I.)
