To the theory of beat-wave acceleration of particles in an inhomogeneous plasma
Description
Laser methods of acceleration of charged particles in a plasma is of a great interest. It is shown that at a certain distance from the leading front of a two-frequency laser pulse, the phase of the nonlinear Langmuir wave excited by the pulse depends weakly on variations in the plasma density. Under such conditions the demands on the plasma homogeneity required for particle acceleration are less restrective
